The Pollax is part of a new crop of Triad patrol vessels that were commissioned in late 2151. The need for a fast patrol craft for interplanetary policeing became evident during the Brakkan civil war incidents. The rioting and violence on Brakkas made it evident that the Triad needed to be present on Alliance worlds to help keep order and keep the fledgling alliance together. These vessels became the "police cruisers" of Alliance worlds and can be seen patroling non Alliance worlds space as well. Not considered military ships involved in the War efforts these ships are being assigned to local law enforcement authorities on many of these worlds. Capable of atmospheric as well as interplanetary flight the Pollax and it's sister ships are quite difficult to evade and escape from.
