In the year 2150, Earth was a planet in stagnation. Most of the globe had been brought into the post digital age and almost all inhabitants of the planet were plugged into the world wide net. Huge corporations ran virtual reality universes that provided "life" for almost all the people of Earth.

Humans had become the masters of these virtual communications technologies and thus created a world for themselves consisting of many virtual worlds that provided security, satisfaction, and a fantasy of contentment for all.

Life like this this came at a cost, the environment worsened and finally many felt that mankind's own spirit, the one that had once had him reaching for the stars, had weakened to almost non existent levels. Man did travel slowly within his own solar system, but mainly on humdrum cargo runs transporting raw materials from the asteroid belt back to Earth. No attempts at leaving our solar system were made and interest in our "real" universe was minimal. Most felt that "Why travel to the stars to look for "real" alien life  when those presented in the fantasy of  VR worlds  sold were so compelling and real."  Besides, in the VR adventures sold, you, as the hero would always win.

This would change in the fall of 2150, when the Aelori would make first contact with Earth.  Entering our global entertainment VRNET and appearing first as "alien characters" within many popular VR fantasy worlds, the Aelori whould come to reveal themselves and  to ask for our help in what has become the our galactic war against the Vox.

The Aelori told us of  the Vox and their real activities in the galaxy around us.. Earth, like it or not; was part of a real universe and the people of this planet would have to leave their virtual fantasies in order to save it. Many humans saw this as a second chance to reclaim the "human spirit" felt lost after decades of  VR fantasies while others reluctantly knew that they had to leave their VR wombs to help or that they would most likely die in them.

The Triad Alliance was formed the following year. Charter members were the Aelori, the Terran's of Earth, and the Brak'kan. Later that same year 2151,  Starbase C3 was created in order to have a secret location where the best of these three world's technologies could be combined and experimented with to create the starships and weapons that would be needed to fight the Vox invasion.

Online for over a year now, Starbase C3 functions as a center for design innovations from Triad member planets and allies from all over the Galaxy. Primarily staffed by bio engineered avatars and remote telepresence conbot drones, Starbase C3 functions as a 22nd century "Area 51" for the war efforts.
